VERY UPLIFTING  Dec 11, 2007
This was a very uplifting book of how the Lord can moves among the humble of heart.

Hey God! I'm thankful!  Dec 7, 2007
When I read this book I could hardly put it down. The story is so down to earth and true and you always want to know 'what will Mama do next' ?
I grew up in a neighborhood that was at least half Italian and many of them immigrants.
I don't think this is a story of whether Catholics are right or Pentecostals are right. It's not a story of denominations. It's a story of God's great love for each of us and the miracles He will perform when we believe in him and not a religion or denomination.
Too often some want to make it an "us vs. them" thing. This story is not that. It's a very heart warming and sincere account of a wonderful family and their friends.
As a matter of fact, I was surprised and very pleased when I read the part about Mr. Maronni and the pizza parlor. I know him and his wife!!!
They are wonderful people also.
So, for those out there who see this as an attack on their religion, it's not. It's a story of a family, their faith, their openness and belief in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in all it's power and beauty. The church they/we attend doesn't matter... it's the relationship we have with God and His son Jesus. That's what truly matters.
Religions have too many "church rules" that are not found in the Bible.
God's way, direct from the Bible, is the only way. Read it for yourself and see.

Fresh! Alive! Unforgettable!  May 2, 2005
I truly love this book and the reason why is simple. It is a book about liberty with a God who loves us and longs to have an intimate relationship with us. We don't have to put on a front with Him and you'll see how MaMa was as real as you can get in this outstanding book.
Religion has a way of taking the pure joy out of being a Christian and enjoying the One who made us. In this book, you will find faith in great depth, smle at answered prayers and feel a warmth in your heart. I recommend this book for all Christians to read. It is encouraging and down to earth, let leads you to look upward to Him, in a way you only dreamed was possible.

Hey God! Thank you God!  Dec 29, 2004
Thank you God for inspiring Frank to write about his Mamma and others. Not only is this book very inspirational to me, it is also very historical to me! I grew up in Burgettstown and my great-grandparents were Frank Folglio godparents! Yes, the godfather who disowned Frank that one day on the street was my great-grandfather. I was told my great-grandmother was instrumental with Mamma Foglio in starting the churches but sadly I never knew the whole story until I read his book, which my Father gave to me this Christmas. (But, just for the record it was "Mamma Bonis" Bible that wouldn't burn, not "Mamma Foglio"!) My father said had it not been for his grand-parents influence (my great grandparents & Frank's godparents) he might not have ended up in church. So even though the story starts "sad" as one reviewer said, it ends "happy" very happy. Read it for the bold faith testimony that inspires us all to go with blind faith to do what God has asked us too. Take me for instance - I almost didn't write this review! Thank God he told me to.

Fantastic  May 17, 2004
My sister loaned me her book. It was a wonderful experience to "witness" such miracles and to see how her long private prayers gave her the opportunity to do a "hey God" prayer whenever needed :-) Such faith! It was such an admirable and life changing book.
An added "kudo" for me was that I actually know some of the people in his book! What a surprise!
Fantastic book! I'm trying to buy up a bunch so I can share them with others.
Aloha,
