Practical Ways to Go Deeper into Your Relationship with God Apr 1, 2009
I found these devotionals to be a blessing because they kept me focused on the same area for many days. As a result, my orientation to God made a more fundamental shift than when I just read the equivalent chapter in Your Best Life now.
A second value of these devotionals was to show me where I wasn't moving closer to God with an obedient heart and spirit. By returning to those devotionals on a regular basis, I could do "extra homework" which I needed!
The book's main weaknesses are two:
1. The first Bible reading of the day is referred to rather than quoted. This saves space but leaves the reader juggling the Bible and the devotional. Of course, anything that gets me to open the Bible up an extra time is good. The problem is that some (me included) may not always open up the Bible to read the relevant verses.
2. The different topics aren't treated with equal amounts of material. As a result, you may get more than you want of some topics . . . while less than you want of others. Here's the layout:
Part One--Enlarge Your Vision pp. 3-51 (16 devotionals)
Part Two--Develop a Healthy Self-Image pp. 55-103 (15 devotionals)
Part Three--Discover the Power of Your Thoughts and Words pp. 107-155 (15 devotionals)
Part Four--Let Go of the Past pp. 159-212 (17 devotionals)
Part Five--Finding Strength Through Adversity pp. 215-250 (11 devotionals)
Part Six--Live to Give pp. 253-280 (9 devotionals)
Part Seven--Choose to Be Happy pp. 283-308 (7 devotionals)
I found these devotionals to be a special blessing:

The best daily reader ever! Feb 7, 2009
I cannot say enough about how much this book has encouraged and inspired my spirit through difficult days. I only wish copies of this book were as reasonably priced for giving as my kindle edition was for me to read.
Excellent purchase May 19, 2008
Excellent purchase, this used book was like brand new.
Boring Apr 27, 2008
Joel Osteen at first simply bored me as a I read through his first few devotions. Devoid of any fresh thought, they were trite and very similar to each other. After a few more readings (I give every book a chance.), I thoroughly hated this book. Osteen is self-satisfied and dull. His book not only added nothing to my life, I feel like it detracted from it. Do not waste your time on this one.
Great Daily Devotional Apr 21, 2008
This book is great for a daily devotional. It is uplifting & positive. If you are going through a tough time in your life, this is a great book to read each day.
